🎨 Bossier City Severs Ties with Arts Council ⭐

The Bossier City Council officially cut ties with the Bossier Arts Council after concerns over improper financial reporting. The arts council has just seven days from Tuesday's final reading to vacate its city-owned building in the East Bank District. Board President Nathan Hicks says the timeline raises serious questions about fixtures and property. A tough day for local arts — we'll be watching how this unfolds.

🚒 Forest Fire Forces Evacuations in Winn Parish 🌟

An active forest fire in the J. Creel Road area of Winn Parish prompted evacuations today. Fire danger remains elevated across the region with dry conditions and above-normal temperatures. Stay alert if you're in central Louisiana — the NWS has flagged high fire risk through month's end.

🏛️ Civic News

Renew Shreveport" Bond Updates Released

The Shreveport City Council released updated details on the "Renew Shreveport" bond project following their March 9 meeting. The updates cover improvements to public works and water & sewerage infrastructure — two areas our city desperately needs attention on. If you've dealt with boil water advisories or pothole-riddled streets, this is the bond working for you. Source

Chairwoman Tabatha Taylor and Vice Chairwoman Ursula Bowman continue to lead the council in 2026 after their unanimous re-election in January.

Amazon's $12 billion data center in Caddo Parish remains a major talking point. The council formally welcomed the project last month, and the economic ripple effects — construction jobs, infrastructure upgrades, vendor opportunities — are just starting to materialize. If you're a local business, this is worth paying attention to. Source

Louisiana Legislature watch: A proposed bill would fine pedestrians for using cell phones in crosswalks — an extension of the 2025 hands-free driving law. The legislative session started March 9. Love it or hate it, it's generating debate statewide.

🌤️ Weather

Perfect mid-week weather for getting out to those flag football games and networking events!

Wednesday, March 18th

Clear skies with overnight lows dropping to the upper 40s to low 50s. Light southerly winds at 5-10 mph. A beautiful night to leave the windows cracked.

Thursday, March 5th

Sunny and warm with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. The warming trend continues into the weekend, where we could flirt with record-breaking temps — upper 80s to low 90s by Saturday and Sunday.

The NWS says March is ending warmer and drier than normal, and that's driving elevated fire danger across the ArkLaTex. A cold front rolls in Monday to knock temps back to the low-mid 80s, so enjoy this stretch while it lasts.

📌 Bottom line: Shorts weather is here. Hydrate and check on your older neighbors.
